Atlantic Crossing Event Route Page

Dear IVAO Pilots,

Please find below your Oceanic tracks for tomorrow that will be in use over the North Atlantic - note, if you are sourcing your tracks from elsewhere the track message should include the TMI of XXX. Due to traffic flow management, if you file a North Atlantic Track other than those that will be active (see below) or a random routing, you risk being delayed at your entry point. This is to ensure that everybody has a safe and separated crossing. Please ensure that you request your highest available flight level to ensure maximum flexibility. Once cleared for a flight level, pilots should not expect this to be increased whilst crossing the North Atlantic, unless for separation reasons.

Pilot procedures can be found here: Pilot Procedures or check out our complete, user friendly and easy to read, guides (available in most common languages) here!

Pilots will need to request Oceanic clearance at least 30 minutes before their entry point. Please ensure you have obtained your Oceanic clearance well in advance otherwise your crossing may be delayed. Why not try out our new Datalink system which allows you not only to request an Oceanic clearance, but also file position reports allowing you to have a smoother crossing. If you would like to use Datalink during your crossing, which we highly recommend, you can do so via this link: Pilot Datalink (you will need to log in using your IVAO credentials).

Controller Positions
Throughout your Oceanic crossing, you will have contact with at least three controllers, all whom have different responsibilites and a short outline is contained in the table below. PLEASE NOTE: through the use of traffic flow management, these responsibilites may change at any time and care should always be taken to listen to the frequency that you are being given - if you are unsure, please ask the controller to repeat the frequency!

Controller Position Responsibilites
EGGX_SG_CTR This controller is responsible for traffic flow management and regulates the flow of traffic. Pilots, usually, will not have contact with this controller.
CZQX_ON_CTR This controller is responsible for providing Oceanic clearances to aircraft flying on Tracks S, T, U and V. Pilots, if flying on one of these tracks, should contact this controller between 30 and 90 minutes before their entry point to request clearance.
CZQX_OS_CTR This controller is responsible for providing Oceanic clearances to aircraft flying on Tracks W, X, Y and Z, along with random routes. Pilots, if flying on one of these tracks, should contact this controller between 30 and 90 minutes before their entry point to request clearance.
CZQX_RR_CTR This controller is responsible for providing all random routing aircraft and Concorde aircraft (including clearance) on Track SN with a procedural service. Pilots, if flying a random route, should contact this controller to pass their first position report.
CZQX_N_CTR This controller is responsible for providing all aircraft flying on Tracks S, T and U, in the Gander Oceanic FIR, with a procedural service. Pilots should expect to contact this controller to make their first position report.
CZQX_S_CTR This controller is responsible for providing all aircraft flying on Tracks V, W, X, Y and Z, in the Gander Oceanic FIR, with a procedural service. Pilots should expect to contact this controller to make their first position report.
EGGX_N_CTR This controller is responsible for providing all aircraft flying on Tracks S, T and U, in the Shanwick FIR, with a procedural service. Pilots should expect to contact this controller to pass a position report at 30 Degrees West.
EGGX_S_CTR This controller is responsible for providing all aircraft flying on Tracks V, W, X, Y and Z, in the Shanwick FIR, with a procedural service. Pilots should expect to contact this controller to pass a position report at 30 Degrees West.

Phraseology
As controllers, we want to make sure that you have a great crossing and one way we can do this is by making your Oceanic clearance easy to obtain. Below you will find some example phraseology of how you should obtain your Oceanic clearance via voice:

Pilot: "Gander Radio, hello. Speedbird 188"
ATC: "Speedbird 188, Gander Radio, Good evening, pass your message"
Pilot: "Speedbird 188 requesting Oceanic clearance to Manchester via track S, Flight Level 380, Mach .83, TMI 314. Estimating ALLRY at 0100z"
ATC: "Speedbird 188 cleared to Manchester, Track S, FL380, Mach .83"
Pilot: "Speedbird 188 cleared to Manchester, Track S, FL380, Mach .83"
ATC: "Speedbird 188, your readback is correct, return to previous frequency"

Phraseology for position reports is here: Position Report Phraseology. Position reports must be passed to your Oceanic controller at every Oceanic waypoint you pass.

We do hope that you have a very enjoyable event and we look forward to controlling you over the North Atlantic.
